Poor Poker Strategy

It may seem surprising, but the amount of poker Texas Holdem players who use poor poker strategy is incredibly high. A poker player using poor poker strategy seldom wins, seems to back poker hands that never had a chance, and will often loose money faster than almost anyone else at the poker table. While as a poker player most people like to find the people who use poor poker strategy, no one wants to be the one poker player everyone looks forward to winning money from. While each game of poker is different and some strategies really depend on the type of poker being played there are some general rules that if followed will prevent you from being considered an easy mark at the poker table.

The most basic of all strategies is that no matter how the game has been going. No matter how much you want to win a hand. Never play a weak hand. A week hand is a hand that has little to no potential. Generally this means that the highest card you have is not faced and there is no flush, straight or even pair potential. If you are looking at a bad opening hand, the best thing to do is fold. However so many people refuse to do this, and as can be expected, they tend to loose. So remember to always be willing to fold a bad hand, after all the next hand has a chance to be better.
