Dodge Superstition
Many gamblers, including poker online players, believe that luck influences their play. And though luck does play a factor in online poker, players sometimes let the notion interfere with sound reasoning. For instance, some players can’t shake off a bad beat they once had with a hand, like Ace-Queen, and so they remain superstitious about the hand and won’t ever play it. This is foolish thinking in poker because the poker online hands are always random, and players are always going to be different. The same hand does not yield the same outcome time after time. By getting stuck in negative thinking about certain hands, a player is going to miss some opportunities to win pots. The same goes for believing there is special luck in certain objects, like a special card protector or article of clothing. These things have no influence on the cards or how the players at the table play their hands. Believing you can’t win unless you have some lucky charm on your person or sit in a certain seat, or eat a particular food is only going to impair your ability to focus and play good poker. Don’t fall prey to superstition. Strive to improve your game by reading proven advice from expert players, practice online and gain confidence in your own abilities to calculate odds and get a read on your opponents. The only real thing that can influence your outcome in poker is your own mindset.
